About Conversation Marketing

Where did this idea come from?

Conversation Marketing is the product of a lot of, well, conversations, and a general sense that, until now, no one's done a really good job of tying all the separate components of a successful Internet marketing campaign into a single, strategic package.

After nine years as an Internet marketer, I've pieced together my experiences with the technology, communications and design issues inherent in our business, and built Conversation Marketing as a rubric for good decision making.

I can't take all of the credit. I've read a lot of brilliant works by other folks, including Jeffrey Zeldman, Edward Tufte, Ben Forta and countless others. I also had, and continue to have, many enlightening discussions with John Cass and Lenora Edwards.

Conversation Marketing is a living thing - I'm not done with it. Neither is anyone else. As the Internet changes, technologies come and go, and the cultural meme moves onto new ideas, I hope to keep this concept adaptable and alive.
