Google Analytics 2.0

Google is rolling out a new version of Google Analytics. If you have an Analytics account, you should be upgraded in the next couple of weeks.

The new look and feel is much friendlier:

But the coolest changes, in my opinion, are:

  1. Customizable dashboards.
  2. Automatically e-mailed reports.
  3. Easier date range selection.

Google is billing this as an easier-to-use toolset. But I have to say that features 1 and 2 make this a better toolset for the geeks, too: Now I can have reports e-mailed to my office and automatically imported into our analytics tools.

Go Google!!!!

Any concern with regard to Google's motives behind giving this away?

Most GA users will pay for it, one way or another, don't you think?

No concern at all. Google is doing this for purely selfish reasons: If they can provide a great analytics platform for free, it makes their advertising technologies that much more compelling.

We get good analytics, they get more ad dollars. Works for me.
